JASON BAKER TAGS A NEW JOB GOOD LUCK FROM ALL WANDERERS

Try Tag Rugby Appoint New Competition Supervisors

As Try Tag Rugby continues to grow with expansion across the UK, we are pleased to announce the appointment of four new Competition Supervisors to be based in London: Jason Baker, Robert Brown, Bobby Domville & Julianne Holbeck.

All new Competition Supervisors will no doubt be an asset to the Try Tag Rugby team with each new starter bringing an array of skills and experience that will complement the organisation.

Jason Baker, a born and raised Londoner is an already liked and well respected member of our community and will look after leagues predominately in East London.

Robert Brown, originally from Huddersfield in the north has recently been based in Madrid and will be looking after the Thames Valley league plus venues in West London.

Bobby Domville from York and Julianne Holbeck from Brisbane (Australia) will be looking after leagues in North, Central and South London.

JASON BAKER

Nationality: English
Previous Job: HR/Payroll admin assistant
Favourite Food: I do love a good curry
Favourite Colour: White
Rock, paper or scissors?: Fake with a left handed rock then pull out a surprise scissors!
What would you take with you onto a desert island?: If I was going to be stranded, I'd take a boat. If not then I'd take Jessica Alba
Which English Rugby Union Team do you support?: Saracens
Which English Football Team do you support?: West Ham

I started playing Rugby Union at the age of 5 and then played for the same club for 19 years. I started playing Tag Rugby nearly 4 years ago when the Try Tag Rugby legend that is Carl Duckels ran a taster session at my University. We put a uni team into the West Ham league but unfortunately I'm the only one who really took to it. I've played for a few different Tag teams in various leagues and one day comps, and I was privileged to be England captain at the International Cup last year.

I started refereeing Tag during the spring last year after Dave Shipley sold the idea to me in a chicken shop in a chance encounter and since then I've become a lot more involved and really become part of the Tag community. Tag has now taken over my life and I can honestly say getting involved is one of the best choices I've ever made. Here's to the future!

ROBERT BROWN

Nationality: English
Previous Job: International Wealth Manager
Favourite Food: Sandwiches, anything "healthy" between 2 slices of bread. I love a nice coffee and sandwich, heaven!
Favourite Colour: Red
Rock, paper or scissors?: rock, but then again paper could surround the rock and then scissors could cut the paper, although the rock could crush the scissors...
What would you take with you onto a desert island?: Books, as many as I could carry. Fiction, non-fiction, it wouldn't really matter. And sandwiches of course!
Which Rugby League Teams do you support?: Huddersfield Giants and Moldgreen ARLFC

I am so excited to be joining the Try Tag Rugby team in London. Because I have been living abroad in mostly Football mad countries such as Spain, Japan and USA (NFL), I only recently came across Try Tag Rugby and was immediately enthralled about the potential for this fast growing sport and I look forward to helping "spread the word".

As a self confessed Rugby League nut, I have played, coached, managed and done pretty much everything else in between. Throughout my travels, I have assisted the Japan Samurais with coaching and sponsorship and was involved with trying to get Rugby League established in Southern California.

My main claim to fame as a player at Moldgreen ARLFC was to spectacularly stop ex Elland ARLFC, Bradford Bulls, England and Great Britain forward, Karl Fairbank from scoring, by accidentally head butting his knee whilst trying to tackle him. He had to go off with a bad knee and I don't really remember much more about it! Another great reason to enjoy the non-contact part of Try Tag Rugby I think! I have always enjoyed the social side of Rugby and I look forward to carrying on this tradition in my new role with Try Tag Rugby.

ROBERT DOMVILLE

Nationality: English
Previous Job: Bar Manager
Favourite Food: Sunday Roast
Favourite Colour: Red
Rock, paper or scissors?: Paper, I always used to go rock before I realised everyone else did the same
What would you take with you onto a desert island?: I don't go anywhere without my sun cream.
Which English Rugby Super League Team do you support?: Leeds Rhinos
Which English Rugby Union Team do you support?: Newcastle Falcons
Which Australian Rugby League Team do you support?: South Sydney Rabbitohs
Which Super Rugby Team do you support?: I'm interested to see how the Sunwolves and Jaguars do this season
Which English Football Team do you support?: York City (unfortunately) and I've joined the Leicester City bandwagon this season

I'm really excited to join Try Tag Rugby as a Competition Supervisor and to help this organisation to grow and develop. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone affiliated with the sport and to get out to all the leagues and competitions this year.

I really like the mixed team and social aspects of the sport. I have a background in disability sport and I take an active interest in services and provisions to include everyone in sport which is something I think Try Tag Rugby do well and I'm eager to continue this.

I have always wanted to play Tag Rugby but due to previous work committments, I didn't get the opportunity to play regularly. I have played Rugby Union from a young age and represented my city and county throughout junior level. I'm a keen supporter of all disciplines of the sport and I was a regular spectator at Leeds Rhinos before I moved to London. I also got the opportunity to work at the 2015 Rugby World Cup which I really enjoyed.

JULIANNE HOLBECK

Nationality: Australian / Filippino
Previous Job: Kids Rugby Coach, Head of cross country & athletics for high schools, Head Coach at Little Athletics
Favourite Food: Chicken Wings
Favourite Colour: Red
Rock, paper or scissors?: Scissors but hold them up like deuces (back to front peace sign)
What would you take with you onto a desert island?: Pina colada maker and a radio that played rnb music non stop
Which English Rugby Super League Team do you support?: St.Helens but only because my friend plays for them
Which Australian Rugby League Team do you support?: Brisbane Broncos
Which Super Rugby Team do you support?: QLD Reds
Which English Football Team do you support?: Manchester United. Only because my favourite colour is red, not because I watch! Lol.

I've played Rugby Union back home in Australia for 5 years and I represented the Philippine Volcanoes in 2013. I've played 7s for 3 years for Tribe 7s and Oztag for 3 years. I also represented Logan Oztag at the Australian Nationals at Coffs Harbour.

I've studied a Diploma in Sports Development, Cert IV in Sports Coaching and Cert IV in Fitness. I've coached various sports since 2008 ranging from Soccer, Athletics and Rugby. I loved playing Tag back home and when I met Phill at the 2015 Tag World Cup, he spoke about the company growing and needing more staff. It was then I knew that I wanted to be a part of that and moved half way across the world for this job! :-)

I'm very much looking forward to my future here and I can't wait to meet you all!

Try Tag Rugby are delighted to have Jason, Robert, Bobby and Julianne on board and we would like to officially welcome them to the team!
